Aggression is so tiring.
It could be if we don’t know how to recognize it in order to manage it.
After so many years of teaching boxing, I noticed something interesting: people are afraid of their own aggression simply because they don’t understand it. Perhaps they were not encouraged to look at it enough to recognize it for the signal that it needed to be.
Wikipedia says:
“in humans, aggression can be caused by various triggers, from frustration due to blocked goals to feeling disrespected” .... and “ often motivated by emotions like fear, frustration, anger, feelings of stress, dominance or pleasure..”
It has been suggested in the past that I must be really angry to hit the #heavybag the way I do. The reality is quite the opposite. Boxing training taught me how to channel my emotions - transform my fears and transfer my energy when I needed to.
The best part: I’m not tired anymore from my own feelings of aggression when they do show up.
Signs of aggression are simply signals for me that it’s time to recognize the underlying emotion and transform it into something useful, like productive energy.
No harm intended ever.

So I can stay calm within the chaos. Strong within the storm. The only fight I need to find is within.
Remember, our toughest opponent in life is always ourselves.
